Yukon village’s drinking water not affected by contaminants in gold mine landslide

Mayo, Yukon – Overflowing contaminated water that occurred Monday at a nearby gold mine is being pumped into storage ponds and is not threatening drinking water for the Village of Mayo. The overflow occurred as a result of a landslide which caused contaminated water to move outside of a containment area and over an embankment.
